It's Summer, how about a twist on Strawberry lemonade? One of my FAVORITE things in the world is MATCHA. What's Matcha you may ask? Well-It's THE most amazing thing ever. But really, It's the most multifunctional THING in the world? Matcha is made from leaves that are essentially used to make green tea. The difference? It's actually the LEAVES used to make green tea that are very finely milled, and instead of steeping the tea, you're drinking every last part of it!
It's extremely high in Antioxidants--moreso than gojiberries, pomegranate, spinach, etc. 137 times greater than that of regular green tea. It's probably the BEST thing you can put into your body. It boosts your metabolism (due to it's caffeine content) Lowers your cholesterol (due it's detox effect) Prevents many diseases, etc. The list goes on and on and on and on. Research it, you'll be surprised as to what you may find ;)
I love it in desserts, I love it in drinks, I love it as is, I love it anytime, in any way (pretty much)
It can be extremely bitter and some people may not like that, so usually when I introduce it to people I have found that the best way to counteract that bitterness is mixing it with Lemonade. But for me--I love it SUPER bitter. The more bitter the better. The brighter green the powder the higher the quality. Expect to pay at least $10 for a good 1oz can of it. Worth every penny.
MATCHA LEMONADE! yes, it sounds weird, the color looks weird, but it's not far off from an arnold palmer ;)
Today, I'm posting a variation to that. Since it's summer and strawberries are in season why not make a Strawberry Matcha Lemonade! There's two ways to do this, a regular version and a frozen version but since I was making a Liter of it, I chose Option 1.
What you need:
Matcha Green Tea Powder (ONLY the Japanese kind. NOT Chinese, Taiwanese, or Korean)
Lemonade (I prefer fresh or SIMPLY Lemonade, but for this I had neither so I used powdered)
Strawberries (Fresh or Frozen, as many as you want)
Honey (Optional)
To make it easy, I'll give you some simple proportions
1 teaspoon per 200ml-350ml (for regular, adjust to your liking)
It's really easy.
1 Part Matcha (mixed with water)
1 Part Lemonade
Strawberries
I used fresh strawberries that I froze. (About 5) Used my Ninja chopper (or use a blender) until it was minced but not liquified, then added 1 teaspoon of honey. Adjust to your taste of course. Since I had the blender out (I find this easier to dissolve matcha in cold water) I tossed in the matcha and water and blended. Just mix at all up and you're good to go!
For a FROZEN variation
Add Water and Ice to Strawberries with Matcha powder and blend. add in Lemonade for two textures, or blended it all together! You can keep the same proportions :)
Simple. Healthy. Refreshing!
